Dusky Woodswallow

Artamus cyanopterus

Dusky Woodswallows are summer migrants, common in the Canberra region but less so in its gardens. Birds arrive in August and September, and then move to woodland areas to breed. Largest numbers are recorded in autumn when they form  large groups prior to northward migration. Numbers can fluctuate markedly from year to year, with an irruption in 2004-05. Nesting is recorded from mid-October to early December and dependent young from early December to late February. R=70. BR=54.
