Petrochelidon nigricans
The Tree Martin is a summer migrant to Canberra. The pattern is similar to the Welcome Swallow but with much smaller numbers. The numbers peak in September and January, with few reported from May to July. One flock of 200 birds was seen in Holt in January 1990, whereas a 1982-83 peak was due to many sightings of fewer numbers at several sites and over several weeks. During the survey numbers fluctuated widely. R=95.
