Cygnus atratus
In the Birds of the Australian Capital Territory – An Atlas (1992) Black Swans are described as being regularly present at Jerrabomberra Wetlands, and occasionally seen on urban lakes. Black Swans, sometimes with cygnets, are now regularly seen on all urban lakes and even attempting to breed on urban ponds. Observations of Black Swans would be restricted to those gardens near golf courses or dams or heard flying overhead, often at night. The feeding of Black Swans or any waterfowl is not a practice to be encouraged.
