After the AGM there will be one main speaker, George Olah, a Ph D scholar at the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the ANU, on Conservation and Genetics of Scarlet Macaws in the Peruvian Amazon.
A scientific research project of the ANU is being implemented in the Tambopata-Candamo region of the southeastern Peruvian Amazon. The researchers study the breeding biology of large macaws and are developing new genetic techniques for their conservation. George will talk about the objectives and preliminary findings of their project, while also presenting a way to raise public awareness to their conservation goals.
