Wednesday Walk – Honeysuckle Creek
Meet at 8.30am at Namadgi Visitor Centre for carpooling. At Honeysuckle Creek we will walk the loop track, and also take a look at the former tracking station and campground. The loop track has had a major overhaul in recent months, taking a path through some impressive boulders. The tracking station site is often good for robins and other small birds.

Post event report
Fourteen members met at the very cold and windy Namadgi Visitor Centre before continuing on to the former Honeysuckle Creek tracking station. Conditions were cool but quite pleasant. We have done this walk before, but the latter part of the loop track has been rerouted through some impressive boulders before emerging onto the site of the famous satellite dish (now relocated to Tidbinbilla Tracking Station). Fan-tailed Cuckoos were heard before we started out, and a pair of Flame Robins were seen near the parking area. A Brown-headed Honeyeater was seen gathering some nest lining from the fur of an Eastern Grey Kangaroo, an interesting tactic we’d also seen recently at Percival Hill. Yellow-faced Honeyeaters were plentiful throughout, and we also found Scarlet and Eastern Yellow Robins. Most heard a Spotted Quail-thrush, and a couple of us saw it fly through the bush up from the track. A pair of Gang-gang Cockatoos, a Wedge-tailed Eagle and good numbers of Striated Thornbills also contributed to a satisfying 28 species for the morning.
