Glorious autumn weather and 16 keen birders! Pity about the birds though.
We assembled at the carpark (Wood Duck, Masked Lapwings, Galahs and Noisy Miners) and began our search for robins south of the old information centre. Sadly there were few birds about, few flowers on the Banksias and no Flame Robin. In desperation we ticked some Emus that seemed more interested in us than we were in them.
We then moved on to the wetlands walk. A nice male Scarlet Robin brightened up our morning tea break. Black Swans with 3 cygnets, lots of well-fed Pacific Black Ducks, a single Shoveller, and 3 Hardheads were soon ticked. We were all pleased to see a Platypus skirting the far side of the pond. The male Musk Duck cruised around in the open and even put on a bit of his "Steamer duck" display. 37 species were recorded in the end but "bushbirds" were scarce and hard to see.
